Excited! Yes, we are! Miss Flute is now a champion. She’s coming home to start on other exciting adventures! MANY THANKS to Diane Steele for piloting our lovely girl to her Championship!
At last a smooth! (Yes, another blue girl.) I’d always known I’d have a smooth eventually. And after all, Flute’s breeders, Carmen and Larry Leonard (also Glitter and Ticia’s breeders), are probably better known for their smooths than for their roughs. They’ve been Smooth Breeders of the Year more times than I can remember.
Flute had been out with her handler, Diane Steele, and was close to finishing her championship. Diane called one day after a show and told me that she’d had her helper hold Flute ringside while she showed a Sheltie. Collies were to follow and she wanted Flute nearby and ready. Diane was focused on her dog who was in contention for Winners. Suddenly, there was Flute - come to visit. She’d flipped her head and tossed the slip collar off and merrily trotted in to see what Diane was doing. “I was so embarrassed”, Diane told me but the judge just laughed and said ”Well I guess I’d better call for a wicket and measure this one!”
