I’d adored Rori since the first time I saw her. I’d been invited to judge a match in New Hampshire and she was there, an adolescent bitch I couldn’t move my eyes from. During the next few years I watched for Rori at the shows. “How’s my favorite girl?” I’d say, and Rori would jump up on the x-pen for a pat.
Rori came to live with me when she was five years old, for which I will be forever grateful to Joan and Carl. She finished her championship when she was seven, along the way taking a 5 point Best of Winners at one of the largest collie specialties on the East Coast. She was truly a testament to quality that lasts.
Courtesy of Joan, Rori had come to me with an American CD and the first leg of a Canadian CD. I finished the Can. title and added a CGC. The championship, 3 obedience titles and Rori’s modeling jobs earned her our first American Working Collie Versatility title. We competed successfully in Veterans classes right through her thirteenth birthday. “Rori’s not taking retirement lying down!”, we’d joke. She loved being out at the shows. Rori was my errand buddy and accompanied me just about everywhere.
Named “Aurora” after the Northern Lights in honor of her Canadian birth, she was indeed my sparkly, shining light.
